Is the sunsun HW-304B same as the Aquatop CF500uv

So I emailed Aquatop and asked this question....

"Is the sunsun HW-304B the same as the Aquatop CF500uv. If not, what are the differences?"

Hear the response I got from Dave....

"We don’t know the Sunsun brand name, sorry we can’t help you."

Based on his response I would figure that they are exactly the same, but the Sunsun is at a cheeper price. I come to this conclusion because if you asked Fluval if their filter was exactly the same a Eheim they would not respond with "we don't know Eheim", they would printout the key differences. Also to further my point, say your product was identical in appearance to another product(as in this case), wouldn't know everything about your competitor product so you can educate a potential consumer of the differences. so as to sway them in your direction. The Toyota sales person would never say "we haven't heard of Honda".

So I ask MFK, Is the sunsun HW-304B same as the Aquatop CF500uv. If not, what are the difference other the price.

Yes, for about $50 more you get a box with graphics geared toward US consumers

Exactly the same different labels and price. Sunsun is cheaper in price.

size, price, brand & label is different with the aquatop being bigger
than the sunsun and more expensive. other than that the looks and
rated gph is the same at 525 gph with 9w uv. the aquatop is probably
more expensive since it comes with media while the sunsun doesnt.
i have both sunsun hw-404b 9w uv (same as 304b) & the aquatop
cf-500uv 9w uv and imo the aquatop seems a bit better well made
with slightly stronger flow though the rating is the "same." but theyre
both good canisters for the price. dont worry about the name theyre
all the same thing pratically. theres multiple brands that look exactly
like the sunsun and aquatop... these are zenblue, pingkay, super,
sunsun, aquatop & tech N toy. look them up besides size and price
theyre all pratically the same thing... lol...

Whether the media is included or not depends on the vendor. 304B + media for less than $74 shipped

According to the specs, the only difference is: 404B is .5" taller than the 304B

none of my sunsuns came with any media not even sponges for mech =/ ...
my aquatops came with mech and bio though (sponge/filter floss & ceramic rings for every tray)

I ended up going with an aquatop for some peace of mind, I would probably go sunsun in the future if I went the canister route.
