We're purchasing a Marineland 220 gallon Reef-Ready tank and stand at the end of the month to house our True Parrot cichlid, a Chocoalate cichlid (coryphynoides), a group of Geophagus Tapajos, and a group of thin-bar silver dollars. For a sump, we plan on purchasing the Trigger Systems' Emerald 39. The question I have is, will the Ecotech Marine Vectra M1 be a strong enough pump in this situation, or will I need to consider the L1?

Thanks!

How much turnover are you looking to achieve?
I'm not looking for a crazy amount of turnover....probably somewhere around 8 times an hour. I've got a couple of double union ball valves that I dial down my two pumps on our 300, but I figured I could do that easier with the adjustable controller of the DC pump.

If your tank is 220gallons with a 8x turnover, you're looking at 1860gph on paper without head.

You may want to opt for the higher Ecotech so that have some head room too. The M2 is 2000gph at max. My bro-in-law uses the L1 and has been very happy with it. Quiet and powerful.

I have both the Waveline DC10000II and 12000. Also very quiet and powerful. It's less expensive than the Ecotech. I think the Jebao's are based off of the Waveline originally as I think they were one of the first.
