Well mate I've had this discussion with a few jar keepers and the answer is no not for certain lol , I personally think females are slighlty bigger set with brighter spangles and a more sharp edge to the undercarrage.
So that would make my current one female and the one before that male.
I think my very first 2ft beast one was female too

I've never tried to breed them that's one for the future , I only ever keep one jar at a time but there is a few members with pairs of jars on here

I named mine Ares, the Greek God of war, after he/she dispatched 4 full grown red devils (3 females and 1 male).
Good name :)
Sounds like a typical jardini don't like cichlids , they just go on a killing spree to be rid of any future threats, and there's not much that survives if the jar wants it dead it usually end up dead
