My LFS had 4 of these guys labeled Red Tiger Severum "Rio Curare". My buddy Josh saw their Facebook inventory pop up and I called and bought them on the spot. It was listed for less than an hour so if these guys turn out to be the real deal I got super lucky. Here's a pic just after I released them. They picked at Repashy already. image.jpeg

looks like it, the second last bar (the one beside the thick/dark bar) being a half bar is what I understand indicates that its the heros sp. curare so I could be curare that you have, at least for a couple. maybe someone else can chime in here with some more info

Cool. Thanks. I trust the shop I got them from and am hoping they turn out. Wet spot briefly had them and I believe it's from the same supplier.

I think there is an issue because a lot of them do not have the diagnostic half-seventh bar. Even at 1/2" - 3/4", all the hundreds of fry from my wild pairs had it. Either these have been mixed with fry of another Heros species (someone at Wet Spot was questioned and they admitted there were "contaminants" in the batch), they are hybrids, or they aren't severus at all. Heros sp. Inirida, for instance, sometimes show a half-bar, though it's not in every fish.

In wild-caught specimens 100% of the fish have it, so F1 or F2 fry should also.

Time will tell I guess. I'm just happy to have had the opportunity to pick them up.
