Hi I've got a species of Anguilla eel, the guy I bought it from was keeping it in tropical temperatures. I've had it 4 months and haven't seen it eat yet so put him in his own tank to see if it was the other fish getting to the food first. Anyway it still seems like he isn't eating after a week in his own tank, I'm wondering if it's because it's actually a cold water eel such as Anguilla Anguilla rather than a tropical eel such as Anguilla Japonica. The eel is about 30inches. Sorry for the bad pictures. Thanks in advance.

I think you are right about the eel. I can't find any info on the temp though.

What foods have you tried?

Btw, the info I found says it can reach over 4' long.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried prawn, earthworms, bloodworms and silversides. On fishbase it's says 4-20 Celsius which is colder than my tank. Maybe I can try him in cold water and see if it makes a difference if you think it could be Anguilla Anguilla.
