I am in the middle of buying the materials for building my plywood tank. I was wondering what were the sized nails that you used? I wanted to build something to joey's 370 tank but he only told me the length of the screws, not the # ...

Congrats on your your build in progress Jessie! I too am planning this build and for sure he didn't use nails. If you look at all 6 videos, I'm pretty sure he explains it in the first 2, its a great build! BTW what size glass will you be using and how much was it? This is whats holding me back at the moment.

On all my plywood tanks I used 3/4" plywood and 1 1/2" - 2" screws I would not recommend using nails at all with plywood. Pounding a nail in is a pretty violent process for plywood. I personally like a #8 2" drywall screw for my tanks because it has a course thread that grabs well and really pulls the seams together. If your not careful and you do not pre drill often times a screw will separate plywood layers so watch out for that. Hope that helps

Id say that would work fine just might wanna look at ones a little longer. I would go no smaller than 1 1/2". I prefer 1/3/4" or 2" for my builds but thats just my preference. You shouldnt split the wood as long as you predrill.

This is exactly what you want just buy the 330 count and if you need more go to the 110. These screws are the absolute best ive ever used. You will spend a little more but save alot of time and headaches. You can only go 1 1/4" long when screwing 2 3/4" pieces together. If you go with 2X4 bracing then you will need 2" for that. I just built a 600 plywood tank with these screws and ill never buy any other screw

Also check Lowes online first because only 1 out of the 6 closest Lowes carried 1.25"

If you use a 1.5" screw to connect 2 3/4" pieces the tip of the screw will come out the other end as it countersinks, make sure to use wood glue and clamps
