Beautiful fish! I think it's possible your H. notatus are actually H. sp. Inirida. They look exactly like mine.
Thanks but im 100% certain that i have a heros notatus pair and heros liberifer pair. Sp.inirida look similar to notatus but completely different fish

Thanks! What size would you say yours are total length? My biggest one is only about 6 inches at over 2 yrs-old. Seem to be slow growers.
My male notatus is about 7 inches and its about done growing. My female notatus is a little over 5 and done growing. My liberifer male is about 6 inches and female about 5 inches. Notatus are a smaller severum that will only get 7 -8 inches at at the most and liberifer are bigger sevs. Around 10-11 inchea for them

Well, that explains it, then! I was starting to wonder if I'd stunted them somehow. One of the females is only about 4 inches! I hadn't read anything on sp. Inirida max size, so I just assumed they'd get around 8.
