My Lima Shovel Nose has this nasty thing on his back!

Hi all,


So this afternoon when I get home from work. I noticed my 7" lima Shovel nose has this big bister/tumor thing on hos back.. wasnt there yesterday (that i know of)... any ideas?.. he is housed in a 180G with a couple smaller SA cichlids and a FL gar that pays him no attention what so ever -


It doesnt look like an inj, but i have no idea what it is.. any and all help is much appreciated!

didnt notice anything untill this afternoon, after work i came home and turned my tan light on and noticed it right away.. what should i do?

i put about 100G worth of AQ salt in tank ( have a 180G)

Is the skin broken and are there objects he could injure himself on?

If not I would lean towards treating for anchor worm. I probably would anyway based upon the input so far.

Good luck, I love those cats.

P.s. what is his diet?

His diet is hikari pellets in tilapia fillet

as for the anchor worms.. i dont see a single worm coming form the "wound".. and ive been looking hard, over and over, all night... isnt that the tell tail sign?. maybe its a wound from a fish? but would it swell like that?

this is puzzling

i think it looks more like a wound. It could be from another fish or developing abscess or such

Do you have anything pointy that could have poked him?
