best way to ween gar off feeders?

so I've had this either spotted or longnose gar for a couple weeks now. lfs i got him from said he's a spotted and was fed live. he's about 8-9", I've been putting feeders in the tank i have yet to see him eat one yet but one does tend to disappear every other day or so. I'm assuming he's eating them at night although i wish i could see him get one, stomach looks good though. i don't think the angels or gourami would be taking them i guess the angels might. also have a fire eel in the tank I'm not sure if he would either
anyway any suggestions for weening gar onto something else and what would best suit growth for him. same question for fire eel too he's on bloodworms frozen and freeze dried atm anything else that would be good for him?

Just offer different foods, I bought a 14" gar from a friend and he did not eat for close to a month, had live feeders in their as well. I put thawed frozen silver sides and cut up talapia he finially ate a silver side 2 days ago and again the next next but tonight I only put the talapia in and he didn't seam interested

Starve him. Feed only pellets or flakes or frozen to your other fish in with him. He will take it eventually and dont give in unless he gets really unhealthy

Gars will eat almost any frozen food. It should be fairly easy. They're not picky eaters

I've had a hard time to get smaller gars off of live. As they get bigger it's seems easier. I've had a spotted for the past year and it's never looked at prepared food only taken feeders. I've even starved for weeks. So to answer your question is patients. It will come around but it may take a bit
