A step forward for sustainable shrimp farming, the Mariculture Program at Texas A&M Corpus Christi recently ran an independent study to test the viability of using commercial nitrifying bacteria in an indoor shrimp nursery. The study found that in the high-density shrimp system, introducing TurboStart nitrifying bacteria significantly reduced ammonia and nitrite, allowing for increased production with less water exchange.

I have never tried this stuff but Fritz Zyme is no new kid on the block. They have had other products in the hobby for quite a number of years.

The shop I worked at back in the nineties swore by Fritz Zyme #9 which was probably what this new stuff replaces.
