Hi all

I have a sea urchin skeleton I found at a beach in Cuba like ten years ago. It's been a decoration on shelves in my house, wondering if I can use it as a deco in my freshwater tank.

Wondering if it leeches anything into the water.

Thanks!

I wouldnt think it would do much to your chemistry unless the Ph Is low

Because like coral, it is probably mostly calcium, it should help buffer your tank water, albeit slowly.
Metabolic acids will tend to dissolve it over a very long period of time.
If you're looking to keep your tank water at a higher pH, probably a good thing.
If you're keeping species requiring soft water less mineral rich species, maybe not.

Thank you! That's great info.

The tank is for my green terror. I don't know exactly what they need but I'm assuming a lower pH. It's around 7.1 right now so maybe not a good idea to place this in the tank?
