I'd worry more about the wolves than the oscars, you probably don't want SD, I was gonna say tiger SD but they'll likely eat your plants.. It's gonna have to be a fish that isn't a vegetarian but isn't elongated either... That's tough lol
On another note I don't think the odoes will trip to much over the golds activity, you'll find them to be fairly active as well, they'll utilize the whole tank
My reasoning behind worrying about the wolves more isn't about aggression, well not territorial aggression, but predatory aggression as you stated, they have bigger mouth to body size ratio compared to oscars and have teeth which they can rip something they can't fit in their mouth with. It's more of the damage they can deal even if they quit on trying to snack on something. I would say catfish but you want something in the middle, a lot of the things that come to mind either grow past 6", are vegetarians, or are elongated, or don't school. I wanna say some simple charcins such as barbs or SD but they'll eat the plants and may grow over 6" or are elongated depending on the species, I wanna say catfish or bichir but for them to not be deemed as food they need to be bigger than 6" and some probably like being solo. It's very tricky lol you need something hardy, predatory, small, active, middle swimmer, schooler etc.
As for odoes I only have my experience with my one, she fights with my curupira sometimes, but she is still second on the totem pole, I'd say they're hardy enough to deal with whatever the wolves dish out, my girl patrols all levels of the tank and swims around all day long, I found her to be more active when I had bala sharks and SD in there, but my wolf wasn't to fond of them. That being said i think you'll benefit from having more than one though a single one will be fine. Ik DB has had good success with his in larger groups of atleast 5 or 6 I believe he said, but they were never at the top as far as the pecking order goes but he keeps atf etc. (fishes faster than wolves that can catch the odoes lol) I think you should go for a trio, try to get all the same sex so no pair forms, HarleyK had a group and a pair formed and started beating every other fish in the tank, though maybe the wolves will subdue that behavior. The issue I see with my two is the wolf has power over the odoe, but the odoe is faster, the odoe bites the wolf and leaves a little scrape, the wolf bites the odoe and there is a clear mark where you can make out every tooth cause you can see every bit of the puncture. But don't let that deter you as it's rare. I think it'd be cool to see a small group of odoes swimming alongside a group a golds.
You still got your curu?
Sounds good, growth rate for my girl was very fast. Got her at about 3-4" January or February of last year, I'd say she was atleast 8" maybe 10" by July then slowed down drastically, got thicker and this is when she got bold and started trying to fight with the wolf for the top spot, it was bad for about a month but eventually she gave up however now the wolf doesn't like her and is always out for her come night time. She holds her own though, they rarely actually bite eachother now. You may have less aggression issues though having a 180 and having more fish. Only other fish they take as a threat is the sun cat, the bichirs are left out of everything. Maybe others will share their experience. I think it'll look great and can't wait to see. You have to wait a year and then their colors will start to pop with the green sheens and fins will get black and yellow in it, they look good once larger. Can't wait to see.
As for the curu, hopefully when he does try the intermedius he gets put in his place, he'll wait till he's large enough to do that though most likely.
That's a nice pick up, though aren't they quite aggressive, I'd watch out for that. Or maybe I'm thinking of the wrong brycron species... Regardless it's a nice fish for sure, I was looking into Brycon they're like smaller dorados for us who can't keep dorado lol unless you get one of the larger species of course. How the wolves treating him? And vice versa? Got some nice redsWell I went to my local aquarium store to get an odoe but I left with this instead... I just fell in love with this brycon dentex. It had great color and I really like how it has a V tail instead of the typical triangle tails that other brycon and dorado have. Unfortunately I have not had any luck in locating two more for a school.

From what I have read they are like mini dorado when it comes to aggression and max out at about 16". He seems to school well with the golds and is constantly patrolling the tank. Glad to hear you are finally getting your gold I hope he works out for you as I hear most people end up not liking them in the long run. That's a nice pick up, though aren't they quite aggressive, I'd watch out for that. Might be finally getting a gold myself![]()
Good to hear everyone's playing nice. And yea I've also read of that, I've been anticipating this fish since late last year, my main worry is my curupira not accepting it, kind of why I still have a bunch of fish, once it works I'll rehome some fish most likely. Have to see how things play out first. From what I have read they are like mini dorado when it comes to aggression and max out at about 16".
