I'm planning on making a 24 x 10 x 14 aquarium for a few Dwarf Puffers and some Otos (I got bit by the
convict360 bug). What thickness should the acrylic be? I was thinking 1/4". Is this too thin, too thick, or about what I need?

24x10x14 inches?
If yes then I just bought 20 gallons tank and don't have to deal with all the building hassle.
If you still want to built one then 1/4 thickness should be fine (the thicker would avoid bowling in long run).
