that's not how it works. Not just from the dad because you saw Silk.

Both have to have it in their bloodline, and they meet so some come out Silks.

This Silk fry outcome in this pair tells me that Magma strains come from Super red Dragon x Silk. Must have been some high quality pairings of RSD & Silk though.
I would not define either of these fish as Magma. What really matters is that we keep in mind that "Magma" is a name that a Thailand breeder gave to a line of fish he created several years back. As according to LakeFishWut Farm in Thailand, a Magma is defined by the best characteristics of a King Kamfa and a Super Red Dragon breeding. Features should include: A flat, recessed kamfa face with nearly sealed lips(or sealed lips in a perfect specimen), strong pearls, strong deep red under the pearls, large tail fin, and big kok. As for the Thai silk offspring, many high quality flowerhorn will end up having Thai Silks as a small percentage of their offspring. I have watched it happen several times with neither parent being a Thai Silk.
