So there might be a chance the reason im getting shocked is due to 1 or both of my 800 watt catalina titanium heaters.... these pieces of crap are only 6 months old. Can anyone recomend good heaters for a 600 gallon ?.....i need something reliable tired of problem after problem in this hobby its pissing me off lol

Ill be able to confirm everything on tue once i get my volt meter and other equipment i have ordered in order for me to resolve this issue without killing myself lol

What are your requirements? Are heater guards a must?

I have had good luck so far with fluval e-series 300 watt and have run quite a few. I have never had an issue with the heating element but have a couple of the of the displays go dim over the years.

finnex titanium heaters are ok so are ehiems, fluvals, hydor and
a few others im forgetting as well but these are major brands.
japanese stuff also work well if you can get your hands on them
but will most likely need to be bought online and shipped.

Guard isnt required for me since i keep them in my 100 gallon sump..... another member also mentioned them to me......i see that 300 watts is the highest they go..... i would prob go with 4....i always have at least 2 heaters in case if one fails but having 4 or more kind of sketches me out lol

I have 2 ehiem jagers in other tanks they are obnoxiously big lol

I jad a fluval m series and it was junk

Idk if i want to go down titanium route again. I thought they were better then glass especially when it came to large tanks. I also heard good reviews on the catalina before i purchased..... price isnt usually an issue for me since id rather go the safe route with good equipment.... spending $180 on 2 catalinas makes me mad tho lol

ive never had a issue with them maybe you just drew the
short end of the straw & got unlucky. i also suggest running
some kind of controller on all the heaters so you can closely
monitor them and have access to ease of controls if changing
needs to be done. i think lot of ppl use apex controllers if you
wanna check em out. also azoo heaters are pretty good frm
what ive heard word of mouth but i have no personal experience
with those so cant say much.

at least you found the problem and didn't have any live stock loss
minus the costs for new heaters. i had a few chinese brand heaters
i was trying out and the out come was not great... every tank that
had these heaters all the fish were dead... thank god they were just
different feeder fishes i was qting or i would have been mad... lol

Both of the 800w heaters were bought with a catalina temp controller....it came together.....so theres 2 800w heaters with a controller on each

They can be used for other heaters but if i had 4.....300 watt heaters i would need to use a outlet splitter for each........i believe the max is 1000w per each controller
