Are tilapia fillets unhealthy for large catfish or can it be a staple diet?

I catch a lot of what I feed my fish and I try to mix up whole fish and filets. One week I'll feed northern pike filets and the next I'll feed whole large chubs or sunfish or herring, whatever I can catch. I would feed strictly whole fish but it takes less time to catch a few larger ones...

    'short bodied' red tail catfish

It's definitely a short bodied cat, not necessarily stunted in any ways. It's a nice find and will stay much smaller than a regular RTC. Some people pay extra money for them.

Re-activating carbon, anybody else do this?

I also almost never use carbon and have never had any issues and have very clear water. The only exception is to remove meds from the water.

How much cash do we feed our fish?

He answered the question that was quoted?? maybe I'm missing something lol.

New 1100 gallon pond project. (Humidity concern)

Looks great! As for the filter, you'll want to find a way to extend the output a bit until it is under the water....surface movement increases evaporation(humidity) as well as splashing on your walls lol. As for the bottom, I'd highly recommend putting some lighter colored tiles on the bottom...

I'd say fin rot....should get some meds for them asap.

    Just got some yellow perch

All good advice above. The no heater part is a big one, they are cool water fish.

    Why tile?

I put tile in a 300 gallon stock tank. I originally had sand but it kept getting sucked into the pumps. You can't see anything in a pond with a black bottom so I cut light tiles to fit and it looks good. I also, unintentionally, left just enough sand to fill the gaps between the tiles so...

    Red Tails

I would go with the lima. A tsn will grow almost as a large as a rtc and is more predatory as well. You would gain a few more months but either way, all your other fish would be dinner.

how did you get into the game?

My story is pretty much the same except sub a 150 for the 220 and a 300 for the 350.

    Eel or knife?

I've kept both and I would definitely recommend the knife fish. Mine is very friendly and even swims up to the top for food. I rarely saw my peacock eel and he disappeared after a few months.

    Red Tails

Given the size of your current stock, I'd say if you bought a 5 inch rtc you would have about a month before your wolf fish was in danger and another two and your ornate would be lunch. They can and will eat something half their size. Especially something somewhat slender like a wolf fish.

    Fishing upstate NY

Nice. I'd fish deeper in 20-40 feet of water and probably drift with live bait. Structure is key since it is a big lake.

    Huge Canadian Largemouth Bass!!!

I'd say around 6.5 as well. Great fish for anywhere!

Although this is true of the niger and most giraffes, there are some smaller giraffe species...just have to make sure you're getting the right one.

Thinking of starting my own store

Another thing to consider: I'm not sure how fish stores work but it is quite possible that most of their profit comes from equipment and tanks rather than fish. The fish are the exciting part but not what you'll need to sell to stay around. You might make a $1 profit on a livebearer but...

I'd say giraffe for sure. Much better personality. My niger just acted like a log most of the time.

Gotta lighten my load - FISH - MA 01950, pick-up only - Some really cool ones.

Bump for a good guy and some nice, healthy fish. I can't commit to anything since I don't know when it will happen but if you still have that gator gar the next time I'm in mass I'll take him off your hands. I've always liked them a lot.
