    Unheated Basement Pond

Lots of good info in there. I was thinking about a gar as well maybe but might wait until I get a decent size out of the chain pickerel or northern pike that I would like to get. Back in the day that was probably my favorite fish that I had kept was my little Redfin pickerel so I want to make...

    Unheated Basement Pond

Hello. Been a really long time since I have posted here. Used to frequent a lot when I was younger and, as with many hobbyists it seems, life got crazy got out of the hobby for a while. Well I am looking to come back when I return home in January/February. I have the go ahead from the wife to...

    New pond build progress

A veggie garden would be really cool but would require some intense grow lights.

    New pond build progress

That may be a good area up top to plant some pothos or something! A little natural filtration.

    New pond build progress

That looks really nice! Are you going to just build the upper part as a filter?

    Unhappy with my 75 gallon.

Well it is actually quite stocked possibly even "overstocked", but all my cichlids are young. I have a Cuban cichlid, Honduran red point, severum, geophagus jurupari, geophagus surinamensis

    Unhappy with my 75 gallon.

I thought I posted a picture I must have never done that. The lighting sucks but here it is.

    Unhappy with my 75 gallon.

Lol no big deal! I have thought about trying to do like a "medium sized" community. I think a bichir or two would go well in something like that actually.

    Unhappy with my 75 gallon.

I have been thinking about maybe going with "mini monsters" such as African butterfly fish, nandus nandus, she'll dwelling cichlids, something to that effect.

    Unhappy with my 75 gallon.

I will get a picture tomorrow. That's kinda what I am going for though. I have always done sa/ca cichlids...

    Unhappy with my 75 gallon.

I have a 75 gallon with a 20 gallon sump turning over nearly 700 GPH. I currently have some juvi central and South American cichlids, but I am just not satisfied with it . I know this is generally a silly, endless question but what else is everyone doing with their 75s? Something that doesn't...

    Apistogramma cacatuoides mature size?

I would just keep an eye on them and make sure he doesnt start getting a little aggressive with the other two. I am sure that you will see some sort of breeding in the next 6 months maybe less. May not be very successful until they are a bit more mature though.

    Pros and cons?

Wow, I just read a bit on your build thread... Pretty awesome! All the ideas you said I had similar ones. Any updated pics of your tank? I would love to see what it is looking like these days.

    Apistogramma cacatuoides mature size?

Well like most fish they will probably breed well before max size. How big are they now?

    Pros and cons?

Yea the moisture is actually one of my largest concerns.... I am actually thinking it would be more suited for a well insulated garage.

    Apistogramma cacatuoides mature size?

I love apistos! It's been a while since I have brushed up on them. As long as you have equal male to female ratio or more females then makes you will be ok. IIRC most apistos top out around 3" sometimes 4" absolute MAX. Sorry I am not of more help but there is a lot of good info out there on them.

    Pros and cons?

I have long considered an indoor pond so that I could finally house a few of my "dream" fish. My question is what would be the most "efficient" way to do it as far as energy use. Also, anything that anyone has ran into as far as issues? Things people would have done differently? Heating cost...
