thanks all... just got home from a long weekend and all of the fry are swimming around!! just got to get them eating... i tried the crushed flakes tonight hopefully they will get to some of it.

IMO you don't even need soft water for them to breed... i have about 100 freeswimming gbr fry right now... my water is 7.2... i have had great luck with my gbrs spawning.. good luck

Well...My GBR's spawned again on sunday night, laid about 200 eggs and all of them were fertilized. I looked last night (Tuesday) and I've got wigglers.. The mom and dad were busy picking them up and moving them around. Now I just hope that the wigglers turn into fry.:)

idk how long the bb bacteria will live. i have heard anywhere from 1 hour to 8 as posted. Wonder if one of the mods has any opinion? Dr. Joe?

idk if it would work, but could you use the pvc glue? that way it would physically bond the 2 plastics together. Like i said, im not sure if that works with the plastics that you have or if the glue would be toxic to your fish. Hope it works for you.

Its been a while since i posted anything... just wanted to update... i have gone from a 10 to a 20 gallon and changed from black gravel to silica sand 10 gallon 20 gallon here is a before of my male blue ram and now... he's grown a little but he is really excited b/c i just got him...

you should just use silica sand. they have it at lowes for 5 dollars a bag and it is clean when you buy it. I just rinsed it once and it was good to go. Looks good too.
