    do jack dempseys eat snails?

Either my JD or my Salvini managed to kill and eat two moon snails, one about the circumference of a quarter and the other somewhat larger. Both of the fish were about 4" at the time.

    Happy Birthday Peckoltia

I'll forever remember Peckoltia, for it was he who picked up his own 3-foot TSN (it had recently jumped out of its tank), gutted and cookied it, indulged in the flesh, then took pics of the catfish filet, posted them, and remarked on the tasty quality of the meat. It is regrettable that I did...

    Anyone raised Mormon out there?

went to a mormon church for most of my childhood. thankfully I don't think its had any long-term affect on me, although I still have to do a lot of faking at family reunions (who knows whose will I might get taken out of, otherwise)

    African cichlid help.. please.

I kept a couple corydoras (might be the very catfish you are mentioning) mixed in with an e-blue among a large number of other assorted cichlids, I never had any problem with the corydoras until a certain texas cichlid grew large enough to mouth-grab (albeit not swallow) the cories, whereupon...

ID this fish if possible at all....

I don't know, I just work off the assumption that its better to label a fish a mutt and keep the gene pool clean than call it a purebred and risk contamination ("well these fish look purebred enough to me, I'll breed them and sell 'em as purebreds")

    African Cichlids

unless the water in your area has remarkably low hardness (which could lead to huge ph swings as the water is dirtied by the fish), I wouldn't worry about water parameters at all. some people make a huge fuss about rift lake cichlids and their 'natural' water parameters, but I've found such...

    African cichlid help.. please.

I've kept a (initially-young) senegal bichir and a ropefish with various american and african cichlids in a 200g for 3.5 yrs, and never had any problems in terms of aggression towards the polypterids. The electric blue and electric yellow are two very distinct species of cichlid though, and...

    hes a killer again!

A male texas of mine killed a female uropthalmus that he had been a "partner" with for several months, after several generations of fry were raised by them. They got along fine until BAM one day she was murdered.
