the lighting has been a bit of a test, obviously i wanted to try to keep the running costs as low as possible. so far there is just 2 48" T5's running on it and to be honest im quite happy with it. i have been looking for some LED lighting but so far i cant find any big enough.

thanks all it was a long time planning this tank and getting the funds for it. for heaters im using 3x 300w heaters to start with, the test will be this winter. as i said the pump gives off quite a bit of heat so hopefully i can contain that heat in the shed. having the filtration outside ment...

ill have a go this week, its not easy getting pic's of them in this tank. i made loads of hiding spaces to limit the amount of fighting going on so i hardly ever see them

go to a chinese wholesaler, i get cases of squid, whitebait an freshwater shrimps. always cheaper when you buy a full case

sorry Jay but i wont be putting any Cichla in this tank, ive thought long and hard about it and decided that Cichla aint for me. The Lince is sooooo skittish once they get over 12" any big movement would freak him out big time.

ive reciently bought a group of 5 ranging from 2.5"-5" and put them in my 500gl along with a pair (im hoping) of L24 6"-7", im in this for the longhaul with them as ive got a few years before they are anywhere near breeding size.

ill let you know in a year as ive just bought 5 ranging from 2.5" to 5" and put them in the 500gl

over here 3" go for around £100 and the huge ones depending on the colour grade gor for £350-£500
