Why are old threads being deleted?

That's what I don't understand. Why is one Lounge thread more 'offtopic' than another Lounge thread?

Why are old threads being deleted?

I got several auto-bot notifications that some of my older threads were deleted. One was something about rainbow-colored ants and another was about a smart phone game. Reason was "cleanup". Why is this?

Waiting for a letter to be delivered??

That's why I said it's unsustainable, the whole organization. Only a government service can operate with billions in losses year after year. But what will happen to these losses? The effects of that massive deficit will be felt soon or later. You can't just sweep these losses under the...

Waiting for a letter to be delivered??

That's a good point. Most of my important stuff is paperless. I don't trust the USPS enough to handle important mail and documents. 95% of what I pull out of the mailbox goes straight into the trash. I only look out for packages of stuff I've bought online. We need to get away from this archaic...

Waiting for a letter to be delivered??

Bargain yes. But at what cost? It's unsustainable. $16 billion in losses for 2012. $5 billion in 2011. $8.5 billion in 2010. Any other business would have gone under. What's gonna happen to these billions in losses? It's gonna sink us even more. Something needs to be done.

Waiting for a letter to be delivered??

USPS is a broken enterprise. Needs serious debureaucratization. Give it to the private sector to run. Sell it to the highest bidder (UPS, FedEx, or?). Treat it like a business. Run it like a business. Profit like a business. Why do we need the Feds handling our mail delivery?

    Ford Raptor jumps 90 feet!

BS. Now you're just making excuses. I myself know what a Raptor is and what it's not. The problem is Ford and what they advertise vs what they actually built. Things like: If Ford's claims were true, you wouldn't have a bent frame from a few bumps at high-speed offroad driving. The truth is...

    Ford Raptor jumps 90 feet!

Like I said, an F150 with fancy shocks and a pretty body kit :) Non-issue? If the frame bends when driving over what equates to a speed bump in the dirt, how is that a non-issue?

    Ford Raptor jumps 90 feet!

Saw this yesterday. Made me LOL. Treating a stock vehicle like a Trophy Truck. They probably thought it would be fine because it's a "Raptor". It's just an expensive F150 with FOX Racing shocks  Anybody heard this story before? 14 guys took their Raptors out for some desert wheeling, 10...

    Anyone Off-Road?

Well, it was a looooooong wait but my bumper is finally here. Put a deposit on a bumper back in August and chose this one 2 months later. 4 months after and it arrived. The 12,000lb winch barely fit, this thing is a beast! And of course I had to add the tacticool bottle opener :D

How's Everyone Spending Their Tax Return?

Many factors go into it, how much you made, how much Federal tax you paid etc. Biggest impact is having kids. The Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Credit can get you thousands back. A single parent making about $20k a year with 2 kids can get a $5-7k refund.

    Bridge cameras???

And here's an example. I shot this photo with the Nikon D40 (Nikon's cheapest entry-level camera), the $80 plastic 18-55mm kit lens and a SB600 speedlight over the tank. Here's the full-size link :) http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5262/5601760234_8d861510df_o.jpg

    Bridge cameras???

And I actually put together a slideshow presentation on aquatic photography for a local club meeting. The link is here for those interested :) http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?502919-Slideshow-Presentation-Intro-to-Aquatic-Photography&highlight=powerpoint

    Bridge cameras???

It's the only way, in my opinion, to get a true high-quality photo. To achieve a tack-sharp image with full clarity throughout you need the following settings: 1. Very fast shutter speed (I usually shoot at 1/200th) 2. A small aperture for maximum Depth of Field sharpness (I use f/11 to f/16)...

    Bridge cameras???

Good call on picking a cheap entry-level DSLR over a crappy P&S. As to your question about the 28-80mm and 100-300mm lens, the difference is focal length. The 100-300mm has a longer zoom for telephoto shots (sports, events, wildlife, etc). The 28-80mm will be what you use most of the time for...

    Advice on confronting neighbor

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually agree with Miguel ;) It's not like she rammed into your car. It's a door ding, that was an accident, when SHE took the time out of HER day and drove over to YOUR house to do YOU a favor and help YOU jump start YOUR car. If I was in your shoes I'd...

    AT&T DSL sucks...

Not necessarily. They did me no favors. They should be required to provide the service for which they are charging me every month, which is stable internet service at the speeds they advertise. They sure have no problem collecting my money every month. And by refusing to fix their...
