Use pipe for a canisterfilter?

Hi, have lately been looking into using a pipe as a canister for an external filter. Its supposed to be a plain biological filter to replace a fluval 403 in a 540litre aquarium. A 900mm long pipe with a diameter of 110mm, both ends will have a 110<->50mm adapter with the small end plugged...

Over the tank filter, silent or noisy?

Hi, thinking of building an over the tank filter with a 20Litre container. Wateroutlet will be through the bottom or one of the sides. The diameter of the outlet will be 38-46mm and end at or below waterline. Waterflow will be around 1200-1700L/h. The aquarium stands right next to my bed...

    Diy-co2 and ph-controller

Yes. Space isnt an issue so will use a couple of 1.4Litre bottles, and a couple of modified grease nipples to get an easy and sturdy way to connect the hoses.

    Diy-co2 and ph-controller

The tank i will use it in only holds about 25litre of water so doesnt take much to overdose. Thats what the waterbottle is for, to release excess pressure when the magnetic valve is closed. Yup 2 bottles and oneway valves will be used. Got it used so cant be returned. Cant justify the...

    Diy-co2 and ph-controller

The best answer would be in the line of why not? and because i can. All i had to buy to test this was suger and yeast, to use pressurized co2 i need to spend atleast another 200€.

Hi, need a new ph-electrode for a ph-controller, is this one any good? Link to ebay.co.uk http://tinyurl.com/7l9oml I have a small test-tank up and running for the ph-controller which i could use to check how the ph-electrode works before i use it in a tank with plants or fishes. Would a...

    Diy-co2 and ph-controller

Okay have an update, i hooked it all up with an airpump and the air flowed as it was supposed to, in the tank when the magnetic valve was open and into the waterbottle when the magnetic valve was closed. Yeasterday i started a real life test with diy-co2 and works good sofar, the only problem...

    How solve floating debrisproblem?

Ok. Would 15-25 mikron have any negative effects? If i go with a sandfilter it will be in a box ontop of the aquarium so filtering the water afterwards shouldnt be any problem. Yup have one, fluval surface skimmer. Fluval 403 1100L/H, 1/3 filled with coarse sponge and 2/3 recently filled(5...

    How solve floating debrisproblem?

At the moment im looking for something big, cheap and easy to build filter to replace the fluval 403 completly which can hold the already cycled filtermedia, but FDF could be interesting in the future if i can solve a few problems around it. Btw, is it possible to run "UGF -> pump -> FDF"...

    How solve floating debrisproblem?

Hi, i have for a long time had problem with debris floating around and wonder whats the reason for it. 150*60*60cm aquarium, true volume is 500L with 4x36w of light 10hours a day. Bad idea to use brass for DIY projects?

May sound a bit crude but could put the ore in a bucket of water with a pump to get circulation on the water so as much of it as possible touches the ore and after a week put a fish in the bucket and se how it fares. Could also test the water with a home cu-test, no idea though how good they are.

    Diy-co2 and ph-controller

Drawn up a simple overpressure release system. When the magnetic valve is open co2 will go down to a pump in the tank at a waterdepth of 5cm. When the magnetic valve is closed co2 will instead go through a T-connector and then to the waterbottle, the hose will go all the way down to the bottom...
