Today in the Fishroom ~ F0 Parachromis managuense

Wow those gold Managuense look amazing! I would love to see more of those in the hobby. A pair for them would look awesome in a blacked out tank.

    Imperial Line Festae

People have been doing it for years with other fish. Its nothing new. The several colors that Koi come in are not natural. Same with different strains of guppies etc. People have always bred fish for what they found desirable. If you do not like it fine but he is not abusing the fish. He is not...

    Imperial Line Festae

Its really not that serious as far as i'm concerned. I don't really see the significance of calling them "line bred" because they are not really and I think a brand is the more appropriate term. Like people have said if he was line breeding than it would mean he is breeding for a specific...

@duanes Yea i've noticed that searching the web. I have also noticed that septemfasciatus can look quite different. SOme look like this... and some look like this... Is one breeding color or what. I have also seen some that have a lot of yellow I am assuming those are Myrnae? @jonclark96...

    Cichlids with livebearers ?

Thank you guys so much for all the responses. Ill get back to the drawing board and see if I can make a final decision. Thanks Jon! My pair was from your stock I believe and I believe you got yours from Dogofwar's wild pair right? Most beautiful strain of centrarchus I have ever seen. I would...

    Cichlids with livebearers ?

Thanks for the reply my aggression issues actually did not start until I moved my pair to a 125 for some reason. In thier 29 gallon grow out they seemed to get a longe pretty well. The 125 had a ton of other fish I was growing out at the time I believe so maybe that's why? Nano's are a cool fish...

    Cichlids with livebearers ?

@Stanzzzz7 Thanks for the pics! I will look into spilurum but finding some may be hard. I definitely want fish that are well bonded. That is one issue I had with my centrarchus after a while the male would lose interest and mom would have to guard the spawn on her own. He also began beating on...

    Cichlids with livebearers ?

Do you think Spilurum would be a better fit and if so why? I am summing you suggested them off of personal experience. They seem to get roughly the same size as centrarchus are they milder? Is there a thorichthys species that would work like meeki?

    Cichlids with livebearers ?

Thanks for the quick reply guys I knew you guys would comment first. How do you think these guys would do with centrarchus? I have kept them together in the past but it was in a 125 with a bunch of other fish. Jeff has some on his list and I am thinking of getting them but i'm not sure. I may...

    Cichlids with livebearers ?

Hey Everyone, SO I bought a new 40B because Petco is having thier dollar per gallon sale and I clearly have a problem. I have always LOVED the Giant Sailfin Molly or Poecilia Velifera. Just to be clear I am not talking about the small pet store brand but the wild yucatan ones with the large...

    RIP :(

Oh I always use TL lol. But I never count long flowing trailers. Some people are a stickeler about that though and really do not like TL measuring.

    RIP :(

Some people count the tail (Total length = TL) and some people count only the body(Standard length = SL). Most people on here at least measure TL. Either way I am sorry for your loss. That fish though I am pretty sure is a male not a female. The first thing is females only grow about half the...

GT at LFS with white fin edges

Interesting... I thought I read an article by Alf Stalsberg saying that the original imports(known at the time to be green terrors) where later classified as Stalsbergi and the later imported fish would come to be called rivulatus. I will have to look at it again.

GT at LFS with white fin edges

As far as I know Andinoacara stalsbergi or 'Silver Saum' are the true green terrors while the rivulatus was known as the 'gold saum' or false green terror. Of course most people know the rivulatus as just green terrors. I agree that the "stalsbergi" looks to be crossed with some sort of acara.

    250lt Green Terror tank??

Jacks can work with barbs and tetras as long as they are large enough to not be eaten. IMO as a single fish Jack's are not the best. I kept them around the time I first started keeping fish and found my angels far more personable. Now of course there will always be an exception to the rule but...

    250lt Green Terror tank??

Agree that a GT could make the tank look small over time but they are slow growers. it is however a much more suitable home than it would be for an oscar. I am going to be "that guy" so please nobody hate me lol but the term dither isn't really used correctly most times. A Dither fish is a...

    Where to find Wild Meeki?

From Jefff... "Hi Reggie I have some wild meeki I collected from Cenote Encantado in MX last year as fry. They may spawn this summer. Hopefully I will then have some F1 fry to offer. Thanks again, jeff" For those who may be looking to get Meeki...
