IMHO it would be possible to comm a few (around 6?) Asians in there provided that you have appropriate filtration, maintenance (read: water changes) and tankmates.

The best you can do is make sure your water is especially clean, add some Melafix (as you're already doing) or salt, and maybe up the emp a little. Keeping the tank dark for a few days as suggested above is also a good idea. Generally, big fish are pretty hardy and can survive most things...

Both nice fish. Funny you should post a pic of them together because my (reputable and knowledgeable) LFS owner recommended odoes as good tankmates for my 2 pleuros ... Asian pike cichlids in your case! :D

Wouldn't a tank like that get very hot in warm places?

That could go into Ripley's! It must have been a one in a few billion chance of getting in there in the first place, let alone surviving and growing 7" ... Oddball, wanna work out the probabilities for us? (I always hated stats!)

I have 3 pleuros, but wouldn't consider an argus simply because they get too big. Nice pickup though and be sure to get some pics of it together with the pleuro. A word of warning ... the pleuro will probably end up getting eaten if they're housed together permanently, but you already knew...

It's the snakeskin variant of a green Asian aro. Some people call it a Nami green aro, originally from Vietnam...
