    125G: Firemouth Tank Suggestions

I’m setting up a 75g and I was thinking of doing a Meeki/swordtail setup. Any suggestions on stocking for a 48x18?

Just setup a new tank. What should I put in it?

I always thought bottom surface area Steered more than length? I thought 48x18 was a fairly versatile footprint. I plan to upgrade to a 180g or 220 eventually. Just starting with the 75.

Just setup a new tank. What should I put in it?

I have an empty 75g tank that just started cycling tonight. Filtration is a eheim pro 4 350 and an emperor 400. What should I put in there? I'd like a breeding pair or a colony. I was thinking: 1. T. Maculippinis- 6-8 maybe and a few swordtails. 2. A. Lyonsi- a pair 3. Jack Dempsey pair...

What's your all-time favorite new world cichlid species?

    T. Pasionis or whatever are gorgeous. Like yellow fire mouths. I've seen mature fish that scintillate pink and tons of other colors besides yellow too.

What's your all-time favorite new world cichlid species?

I just put in their address and mine and estimated the size of the package and overnight air was like $179.00 shipping. That plus 8 or so Thoricthys seemed like an excessive amount to pay if I could find them locally or at least east of the Mississippi River.

What's your all-time favorite new world cichlid species?

I'm really considering setting up a species only colony setup for a Thoricthys species. In my area all I can find is aquarium strain meeki. I'm fine with that, but im worried getting rid of fry may be difficult. I would love to do it with some wild type Mexican livebearers and some maculippinus...

What's your all-time favorite new world cichlid species?

I've never kept these guys. I've just never had enough space for one. I've got a 75 now, and I considered doing the wet pet thing, but one of the things I really like about NW cichlids is the breeding/fry raising behavior.

What's your all-time favorite new world cichlid species?

I've always wanted to try the calico/marble ones but I've never seen them at an LFS and I've never thought to order them. Would be a fun breeding project.

What's your all-time favorite new world cichlid species?

I like convicts too. I've only kept pet store hybrids or nigrofasciatus and A. Siqua though.

What's your all-time favorite new world cichlid species?

I know we have some serious fish keepers on this board, and I'm curious to know what species made the biggest impact on your hobby? It doesn't have to be some fancy "holy grail" species, or the species that required the most work or advanced hobby skill to keep (although it could be either of...

    Need 8-10" cichlid ideas

I kept a pair of A. Centrarchus in a tank about that size. The male gets around that size. Really neat fish.

What cool NW cichlids are available in the trade atm?

Can I do a pair for a while in a 75? I plan to upgrade to a 180 at some point in the future but it will probably be years. Btw Mo, your pics and fish are always stunning.

What cool NW cichlids are available in the trade atm?

Bro, we should get to know one another! I'm finishing up grad school, and I've got some family business to take care of, but I was seriously considering starting a cichlid club in bham similar to the one I was in when I lived in DC (CCA). Call it the magic city cichlid association. At the very...

What cool NW cichlids are available in the trade atm?

I came across them googling but didn't know anything about them. Are they pretty reliable? Do you have any idea where they're located? I'm in Alabama so shipping from some places (west coast) can't be expensive. They definitely have fish in their list I would be happy with. What happened to...

What cool NW cichlids are available in the trade atm?

Hey y'all, I haven't been around for a while, but I'll be stocking a 75g soon. I had the idea of 1 or 2 breeding pairs, but some of the fish that were around last time I was seriously into the hobby seem to be missing at the moment. I've checked Rapps list, and don't quite see what I'm looking...

Is this strong enough to hold a 75g?

It looks like three pieces of 3/4 inch plywood make contact with the floor. It's layered plywood. I don't know what kind. Here are some pics of the bottom. It looks like the drawer spaces are boxes made of plywood of the same thickness. The back just looks like a thin piece of plywood tacked on...
