I personally wouldn't use any foam. As long as everything is level, according to your description you are fine.

180 + I would consider big. However, once you go over 8' X 3' it is XL (Xtra big?). Of course there are all sorts of enormous tanks beyond that.

The blocks I am using are two high but they are about the same height as a concrete/cinder block when stacked on top of each other. They are solid unlike the concrete block. Total height is 5-6" so it shouldn't be top heavy.

That seems like an obvious answer. However the prior owner (my parents) have already spent 8k trying to fix it. The blocks have been tarred and papered on the outside (basement dug up), the lot has been graded, drains have been added, and sumps have been added. The inside has been sealed...

All have different dispositions so there is no "right" answer, but this seems like a pretty safe combo

I like both. I have both. Driftwood is a must. The royal is hardier and gets larger. Gold nugget not as hardy, striking in appearance when larger though. I keep veggies for my gold nugget and the temp is around 83F. Royal in community about 78F. Both are about a year old.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. Missing pieces is time taking its toll. Yours doesn't look to bad though. Let's remember that some discoloration of silicone is caused by different chemicals that may have been added to the water. (previous owner)?

Seems to be T. moorii 'ish to me. Could be a hybrid.
