    I would forget the pbass... Focus on either the fronts or the discus but not both. Fronts love the rift lake set ups with harder water and higher ph while the discus love soft acidic warm water. A nice planted setup with discus could look great... Just do your homework and commit to it... And...

    I had a similar experience however my population bloom came as a result of me increasing the temperature of the tank and adding quite a few new plants.

    thank you very much. Pyramid, that was extremely informative and it may very well be the route I take now. I am looking into co2 cannisters and may start dosing that way. Id love to get some of those nicer carpets going.

    would this bulb work in a planted tank?

    I have a 36" t5 setup from glo that has two 6700k bulbs and another 36" t8 setup that has two 30watt actinic bulbs. I love the look and have no idea if this will work. I'll post a pic in a second.
