    Fish-safe return piping in Australia?

Clear tubing discolors like that. Just a fact of life.....I don't like it either, but clear airline tubing does it also, so I don't think it causes any harm....(Just think, if you were underwater 24/7, how would you look?) Teflon Tape is safe, I used it on all my union fittings. I use 1.5" ABS...

    Waterproofing Basement how to?

Use a good paint like Pittsburgh sun-proof 100% acrylic outdoor paint or Dulux weatherguard/diamond. I use these inside for things all the time(trim, fishrooms, bathrooms, doors, aquarium stands, basements etc.) They are awesome paints that can't be beat. LONG lasting and VERY easy cleaning...

    Need help

Try soaking the paper with a hose, working it in with a rag a bit, then it might peel off. If that doesn't work, next I would try soap+warm water. I wouldn't want to try any auto products myself - as most could probably melt the acrylic as mentioned.

Power your heater without raising ur eletric bill?!

Not to mention car batteries don't like being discharged and recharged on a constant basis, this is not what they were designed for(it will fail much sooner than you expect). For this you need Deep cycle marine batteries, they can handle discharging and recharging all the time. If your going to...

Thanks all..... Everyone is right it doesn't make a difference when your topping off so little at a time. Only difference it made for me was when doing a W/C(use the whole reserve tank) I might take the heater out since it's getting warmer out now, but in the winter that great lakes water...

    Advice needed (sump)

I've done the same thing - it makes for longer contact time with the biological filtration before the water is pumped back to the tanks. Also gives ya the chance to polish that water even better.

I have a 30G water holding tank, for auto top off, and water changes.... I aerate it 24/7 and there's a heater in there to warm the cold water. My question is, do I absolutely need aeration in there? or will a small powerhead work in place? or no air/powerhead, just the heater? The tank has...
