I use a 4 stage canister with a 9w UV bulb for my 55 gal marmorkreb tank. Its fed by a UGF and uses PVC pipe to get it to the canister. The flow rate is 575 GPH. It keeps the tank clear and doesn't require much maintenance.

Has anyone tried to use a canister filter fed by the UGF?

keep it well fed and hope for the best. keep in mind, that it may one day just snap and use its teeth on another fish.

this is the day after i set it up. took the 2 emp 400s a day to get it clear. the fish seem happy with the extra room. the twin t12 shop light worked well in addition to the twin t8 til the ballast went out.:irked: the stand will be finished, but it will be at a later time.

I've looked at t12 shop lights and love the price, but didn't find any bulbs for plants. I may look into that more. My other option is a standard t5 2 bulb unit I found on ebay for $83, but it comes with a 12k and an acetinic bulb. The more I think about it , the better the t12 with grolight...
