    Alligator gar and black diamond

I used to keep rays around that size with a long nose gar around that size and had no issues.

    New Tank mate for Samson

This size differential makes me uncomfortable. I had issues with that in the past. Everything can be fine until it isn’t.

Recommendations for Philadelphia area custom tank companies?

Yes, I' ve considered Pentair, but I'm frankly not a huge fan of the look. I also may want to go a bit wider than 4' on this project, although dimensions are still very much in flux.

Recommendations for Philadelphia area custom tank companies?

I've been out of the monster fish game for a few years, but I'll be moving next year and want to get back in a big way. We'll be buying a house, and I want to install a stupidly big stingray system. I've moved big tanks in the past and plumbed my own sumps, but I'm not exactly handy and I...

Moving sale: Madison, WI 187g tank, leopoldi ray, RCK, fire eels, longnose gar

Update: It has come to my attention that the RCK and longnose gar are both larger than I thought. I'd say that they're at least 20", maybe even 22". I wouldn't put either in a 24" wide tank, but a 30" would be ok.

Keeping a 6ft by 2ft by 2ft tank in an upstairs flat help

One point-- My understanding is that the 40 lbs/sq. ft. refers to uniform live load. That is, if you filled every square foot of the floor with weights above 40lbs/sq. foot then you would be in trouble. Figuring out whether or not a particular load in a particular area will cause problems is...

Keeping a 6ft by 2ft by 2ft tank in an upstairs flat help

Whoops-- despite the dimensions being prominently featured in the title I got it into my head that it was 120. Actually, you have a 180. Sorry for the brainfart. (*I'll be using US gallons throughout this post, but it won't really make a difference.) The calculations that you're asking for...

Keeping a 6ft by 2ft by 2ft tank in an upstairs flat help

I just wanted to clarify one thing: the idea that the tank might fall straight through the floor and kill someone has been brought up a few times, and I don't think I've seen anyone refute it. Based on my research, the probability of this happening is more or less zero. What you have to be...

    New to rays. Normal behavior?

Any chance there are small particles of food stuck on it? I used to have a ray that would love to suck on my FX5 intake after I fed bloodworms. I wouldn't worry about it though.
