    what fish should i have???

Loaches are catfish. Also, I think 18 inches for an Oscar would be a really huge, rare Oscar. A 75 would be a great home for him, by himself. If you want other fish, too, then start looking at six-foot tanks -- in terms of bioload, territory issues, etc.

    what fish should i have???

 Have you seen how large an adult Oscar is? A fish which grows twelve to fourteen inches and loses half of the food he eats out of his gills does not belong in this tank. I cannot, cannot stress how messy they are. He doesn't even belong there, by himself. If a bunch of people are...

Feeding your cats chicken liver and heart

It's very messy! No, OP, I stick to the squid, fish filets, and some different pellets. He's doing just fine. :)

Feeding your cats chicken liver and heart

I only feed pellets and cleaned squid, fish filets, etc. My pond stays very clean, and the water is crystal clear. I don't feed feeders because it's not necessary and I already QT enough feeders for my one Florida Gar which refuses anything but live. When catfish eat anything, there's no...

    RTC and TSN Information

Good to know! Last I checked, RTC's don't do well when you try to make them wear sweaters... they're surprisingly picky about clothing. All Guido will wear are those weird wrestler's trunks. LOL in any case, that info goes for the other guy, too.... I am a fount of knowledge when it comes to...

    will there be problems?

Don't add anything without reason. If the fish is fine, let him be fine, and save your money! Edit: And if you do have reason, no it should not harm him. Many fish commonly available in the trade are wild-caught, and respond well to medication. Antibiotics have the propensity to kill your...

    catfish

I always used chicken livers. Fresh is best, because when it's frozen and thawed I found it didn't stay together as well. Just be careful with a rod and reel.... when you go to cast, you can find the chicken liver on your back, and the hook empty heading toward the water. It's somewhat...

so confused on how to fix the water

If you want to avoid displacing gravel and what's in it, put a small plate underneath the stream of new water to diffuse it as you add water slowly. If you want to avoid having nasty water after a water change altogther, cut back on feeding and increase gravel siphoning. If there's filth in...

Do NITRATES increse or stay the same when...

Doing a water change with water which contains Nitrate will not necessarily increase Nitrate in the tank. If I do a water change on a tank which reads at 20 Nitrate with tap water which contains a Nitrate level of 5, then some change will happen -- it just won't be as drastic as if the tap...

    RTC and TSN Information

I'd check to see how much it's going to cost to heat a pond to 78 degrees in Illinois year-round before I'd put him in it. It's great that you have a plan, but remember that these are tropical fish, and if you don't keep them in warm water, they'll begin to get sick more and more and you won't...

    RTC and TSN Information

Please have a heart and return this fish. It's selfish and cruel to keep him. It's very easy to spend five or six thousand dollars just trying to keep an RTC the right way. If your dad won't spring for a test kit, I doubt he'll pay out for anything else the fish needs. Sorry to be so blunt...

    An update on my rtc....

The fish does not care if you're trying. In fact, he doesn't even have a concept of "trying." He just knows that he feels like crap and he's miserable and he's dying. Take him back -- give him a chance.

Two Angels in 55g fighting for months...what to do?

I have a pair which began to fight after being moved to a larger tank. I separated the male from the female for one month, and then re-introduced him. They still have spats, especially around the time they're about to lay eggs, but nothing like the aggression I saw from him before the...

    Hi all

Hi! Welcome to MFK! Answers 1. I sort of thought they were cool and amassed tanks... then an indoor pond. 2. If you count the cash spent at first, it sucked... now, not so bad! 3. For my RTC/Pacu... $6000 and ongoing 4. Is it work? What's good that isn't? Nothing is rewarding that...

    Florida Gars get nippy

I have three (12 to 16 inches) in a 180, and have never experienced this. I've had the three of them, introduced at different times, for over two years. Possibly due to a lack of space?
