Oh my... I guess I figure out how my gars died. It must be due to the silver aggressiveness in chasing feeders. My silver is known to be aggressive towards feeders and do big movements when chasing feeders. Most probably it startled my gar and both of them broke their backs... Thanks...

Sry for the late reply... Nope no plecos... Just a normal driftwood. I doubt its was the silver cause my silver is known to be very peaceful... The 1st gar was around 3 inches, while the silver was around 7 inches... 2nd gar was 6 inches, I also suspected it might be my aro attacking the gar...

How to avoid obesity... Just do what humans do yea? Reduce rations, feed less fatty foods(goldfish and superworms). Eat a variety of food. Isn't hard to find your answer by just thinking abit yea?

LOL if you found your aro reaction to live food interesting you would do it another time ^^ Just feed it some livebearers or frogs occasionally to "curb" your bloodlust. Personally I am a feeder based fishowner, and I can guarantee you aro will be sho big after eating FARM BRED frogs ^^...

Other feeders would be ok, but goldfish is not. Just go with the pellet stuff to save money.

Before leaving the LFS, try asking what have they been feeding the silver. If they feed it feeder fishes or frogs, maybe get a small bag or small quantity before leaving the shop just to make sure you have something it will eat. (If you dont plan of starving it to accept pellets) If you pro...

Ehhh my silver is not aggressive, but he makes it a point to nip at newcomers. And they end up good friends in the end. Never bothers my bichirs, never bother my gar and mind its own business

I have the same problem as you, when I 1st got my gar, yes I recently got a new gar ^^ It was swimming happily at the top of the tank... Rather floating instead of swimming(It seemed like my silver aro gave him the spot since his the big boss in my tank), and he really just floats there...

Why does ur fren even want to breed them... IDK, but injecting artificial stuff into animals to acheive something is just not natural. Ya and this goes for GM foods T.T
