    killing a fish on purpose

I wouldn't eat it, if you are rehoming it, you don't know the type of water it was raised in or if it was given any medications and such, all of which can make it both taste terrible and possibly a risk to your health.

    What's your FAV dog breed??

I honestly believe that any problem a dog has is because of how it was raised, if a dog is raised well by an owner who understands the particular breed then the dog will be a happy and friendly dog.

    Blue Ring Octopus...in a 125+G

Wow, so gorgeous but very dangerous. I find Blue Ring Octopus venom interesting in how uniquely it affects the body in comparison to the neorotoxic or hemotoxic effects of snake venom. The victim is completely paralysed and the cause of death is suffocation. If the victim is kept breathing for...

    killing a fish on purpose

I do certainly agree that the fish has to be removed from remaining fish because you have an obligation to keep those fish safe but I think killing the perpetrator is a little extreme.

    What's your FAV dog breed??

There's a difference between a dog being protective and a dog acting dangerously, you just have to know how to draw the line. If you maintain training and proper discipline this should be easy.

    What's your FAV dog breed??

She is adorable, it's ridiculous that a few terrible owners, failing to look after their dogs have given Pitbulls such a bad reputation.

    What's your FAV dog breed??

That sounds reasonable, some people expect to have pet dogs that are great with people and kids but are also highly territorial and aggressive, it just doesn't make sense. Rottweilers are gorgeous and really great natured dogs, I think it would suit what you're looking for and it sounds a little...

    killing a fish on purpose

I'd have to agree here, fish can't differentiate between right and wrong, it's just acting how it sees fit. I think part of keeping pets is understanding that once you have the pet, it is up to you to do the best you can to meet the basic requirements and keep the pet healthy. It seems like too...

You just answered your own question, if you feel that your tank is crowded, don't add any more fish.

    What's your FAV dog breed??

:iagree: You don't sound preachy, you made some great points. It's fantastic that so many more people are adopting their pets rather than purchasing them from petstores and the like.

    What's your FAV dog breed??

Why are you specifically looking for a "guard dog"? Certain breeds are used for guarding because of their tendancy towards aggression which poses a whole set of issues that you have to be aware of. A dog that is truely a guard dog is not a family or pet dog, their training makes them far too...

    Parrot cichlid very shy!!

If he is eating fine, acting normally and the water params are normal then there probably isn't a problem, your friend just has an anti-social fish, haha.

back to Fish... and some changes

Haha, they're both lucky to not have had any problems after being rescued.

    Help!!!!

I think you need to discuss with him why he doesn't want to keep fish and your reasons for wanting to keep fish. A medium sized tank stocked with a few hardy tropicals is quite easy to maintain with proper filtration and if this is done properly, smell isn't an issue at all. I don't think it...

    Shy Oscars

You are being quite rude and snappy for somebody who asked for help and is being given great advice by people who are veterans in fish keeping. You had no heater or thermometer so the unsuitable temperature isn't a surprise, this may have been having the largest impact on your Oscars behaviour...
