i wouldnt worry too much, our oscar had those issues when it was smaller for a while... and also did have hith, and yours does not look life threatening or anything so just keep doing water changes and im sure he'll improve with age

he also suffered a traumatic tail loss about 3 months ago, cuz he decided to hide in an ornament and got stuck in it.. had to break the ornament just to get him out, and in the process he lost his tail, but its grown back not no problem too

i think the problem was that he wasnt eating much... hes doin good now, originally he was in a 125 with other cichlids, but he spent his days hidin behind a piece of driftwood and would rarely come out, id say about 2-3 times a week to eat only, but now hes in a 60 with a severum who doesnt...

those are some biggg salvinis!!! i have one, hes been about 2-3 inches for the past year or so lol... not really a fast grower, but hopefully he'll get bigger like the ones here soon

i say stay away from the blood parrot too haha, theyre ugly and wierd hahaha just my opinion, but i guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I think you should get whatever combo you want, just make sure you can house the fish at their full grown sizes. Ive had many experiences with different combos... and to be honest ive noticed that with cichlids it kind of depends on the individual fish, ive seen severums be the most aggressive...

i think petzone in sd can or does ship fish... im pretty sure they ship theyre own, so i think they can ship yours for a price.... u shuld check it out

oh yeah, if you use a styrofoam box, u can line the interior with a black trash bag, cleaned ofcourse... thatll help with any possible leaks or breakage to the enclosure. and black retains heat from light too... not much, but hey, it might help a lil... goodluck!
