    33 dollars, 1 hour = stand for a 150 gallon.

Horizontal (or better yet, diagonal) braces across the back like / \ would be a great addition. The reason to double up on the 2x4's wasn't for strength, it was to transfer the load from the horizontal 2x4 'rail' to the vertical post. My rail sits on top of 1 2x4. All the force is directed...

    33 dollars, 1 hour = stand for a 150 gallon.

My reply came across much more defensive or cocky than I intended. Pls chalk it up to that being a bad day of dealing with he ex-wife and accept my apology. I love the level of expertise here at MFK, and I love that I can come here and post a question and get a huge array of constructive...

    What's the thing called?

Last night I found this link, http://www.livingcolor.com/aquarium-products/overflow-box-covers/ There isn't a link to buy them though! I went to the "store" link, but there are very few products listed. It's a shame, because that would be a *fantastic* way to hide the plumbing.

    What's the thing called?

I'm not actually making an overflow though. More of a "parts hider". Some clean way of hiding the huge 300 watt heater, and the filter intakes. I might also position them so that I could run the cord to my powerheads in them, and maybe (if I ever decide I want bubbles) an air line.

    What's the thing called?

I guess that's it. I guess I'm going to have to fabricate the part I want. Basically, a squared U shape to hide plumbing and heaters, like an overflow, except I want it to pull water from the bottom, not the top. Thoughts on acrylic vs glass, and how to make it black? I wonder if black ABS...

    What's the thing called?

I've been searching for 2 days. I see it mostly in newer acrylic tanks, but I'm looking for the word for a part. I want a black plastic squared U shape piece in which to put my heater and filter intakes. Kind of like an upside down overflow, with the "teeth" down on the bottom to let water...

    33 dollars, 1 hour = stand for a 150 gallon.

From my post with the instructions: The way the stand is built, there are 6 load bearing legs, with 2x4 runners braced to them to spread the load. A 150 full weighs 1800 lbs. http://freshaquarium.about.com/od/aquariumsandstands/a/tanksizesweights.htm 1800 lbs, spread over 6 legs = 300lbs...

Half full of water, no pops, cracks or settling of the stand. Hooray for Liquid Nails.

    Stop Crack From Spreading?

You could try calling safelite or one of those auto-glass places. They repaired a crack in my windshield, might be worth a phone call at least.

I would have, if they'd been cheaper :)

    33 dollars, 1 hour = stand for a 150 gallon.

I went to lowes, picked out 9 of the straightest 2x4 studs I could find, and rolled my cart back to the lumber cutting area. Normally they charge you $1.00 per cut, but I've never actually had them charge me. I just strike up a conversation with the guy behind the saw. They've always been...

    33 dollars, 1 hour = stand for a 150 gallon.

It's finished, but the page keeps crashing every time I try to upload pictures, so here are links, I'll try to fix them and post some instructions when I get back www.allmond.net/phoneuploads/tank1.jpg www.allmond.net/phoneuploads/tank2.jpg www.allmond.net/phoneuploads/tank3.jpg...

    33 dollars, 1 hour = stand for a 150 gallon.

I just got back from Lowes. I bought 10 2x4x8 studs and had them cut them to length for me. I gave the guy a (true) sob story about my wife giving me 1 day to get my tank out of the wall of my (old) house, so now I have to build a stand for the tank in my apartment. I'm broke, and my fish...

Koi pond Modified to L Aqurium.

I think the problem is in the rigidity of the pond. Those ponds are designed to have dirt behind them, supporting the pond from the outside, as the water pushes from the inside. If you didn't have that external support, the pond would flex a lot, causing cracking/leaking around a window or...

    My 150 In-wall project

I purposely didn't link them with the image tag because they were too big for the forum and made it annoyingly side scroll. I'll resize in a bit when I add a few more from the last of tonight's work. If you don't mind, please edit out the photos so I can post them at the proper size. I know...

    My 150 In-wall project

I could.. But really, I should be able to do it with the code. Its a feature in BBcode, I just can't figure out why its turned off. honestly, I don't want to resize them prior to upload. a) its extra work. b) I have two file versions. c) you can't click the image to see it full size and...
