nice, I love the black gravel, just needs a little more maintaince, but I think its worth it. I have a 2, 10, 40 tall, 55, and 90 gallon the 90 is home made and has 3 koi from 6" to 12" and I really need something bigger for them.

Nice location for a tank, I have a 4' x 2 1/2' x 20" tall that holds about 90 gallons, with 3 koi from 7" to 14" and I need to build a bigger one 500 or even 1,000 would be nice. but I'm going back to collage at age 49, so money is tight. I hope you can start on it soon so I will have some thing...
You could also rig up some type of lock on the cover, you could build a raised wall around the top of the aquarium also to give the fish some room to jump safely, you could match the stand and use 3/4" plywood and cover it to match. I would give them at least 12" and maybe even 24" depending on...
Sometime's fish jump just for fun, The Aro's jump up to 3 feet out of the water in the wild to get bugs off a tree branch... And I would test the water first and do small water changes evry day to adjust it if needed, some fish are stressed if you change the water's chemistry, P.H. too fast...
