    Small tankmates with rays?

I kept the puffer with the rays for a year and a half. There were no problems. Many people on this forum said I was risking my rays, but the Mbu behaved like a lamb. I only had to watch out during feeding. If food fell on the ray, the puffer could bite the ray by mistake. This happened a couple...

    Finally Frøya gave birth!

I think she had a slow growth all the way. The pair was about the same size when I got them. I wanted the female to be the larger one, so I have fed her twice as much as the male. Still after two years she is only slightly larger than the male.

    Small tankmates with rays?

I have tried different species of tetras and giant danios and all have disapeared after a day to a couple of weeks. But then I tried a group of 10 giant hatchetfish. I think the last one rounded a year in the tank. They stay at the surface and jump when attacked, so the rays have a difficult...

    Finally Frøya gave birth!

Thank you for the comment on the female. She has grown from 22cm to 32cm (8.6 to 12.6 inches) since I got her in Mars 2010. I am very happy that she has kept a very light and clean pattern. She has more marbling, but she still a very nice contrast.

    Crazy for shrimp!!!

Actually one time it did jump out of the tank while feeding. So I need to be careful. But I have been feeding like this for almost three years, so it has become a routine.

    Finally Frøya gave birth!

Thank you very much for the kind comments. Yes, Frøya is my pride and joy! I know there is a risk of larger rays eating pups. I isolated the female from the other rays a week before she gave birth. I made the film as soon as I discovered the pup and then took out the female.

    Finally Frøya gave birth!

I had to do a “ray-dance” when I looked into the tank last night! Finally my marble female Frøya gave birth to a beautiful little female pup! The pup looks nice and healthy. I’m really looking forward to see how she colours up. Hope she develops like her mum! Check out the film...

    Crazy for shrimp!!!

Thanks for all the comments! I think feeding whole food animals is a good thing. The rays get all the nutrients in the food animal. There are no one cleaning shell and head of prey they catch in nature! There might not be many nutrients in shrimp shells, but there are in the head! Some...

    Stingrays and MBU-puffer

Thanks for all the comments and advice about keeping my Mbu with my stingrays, especially from those who actually tried keeping Mbu’s and stingrays or at least have experience with Mbu’s. Although I suspect most of the advice come from people who have never tried keeping Mbu’s. I think a lot...

update on the hybrids and the new marble

Very nice rays! The first one really does it for me. And the new marble of course. I am also using gravel for my rays. They dig so much that I don’t need to clean the gravel. But they do move it around and make piles.

    Puppy love!

Thank you for the kind comments. The males have a really light steel blue colour. I wish they could stay this way! But soon they will turn darker, so I try to snap some shots while they have their juvenile colours.

    Puppy love!

Yes, they are cuties! Thanks. They are all from the same litter. So at this stage they look quite different for being brothers and sisters.
