i have my riccia floating... so i'm not sure if it'd require more lighting etc. in order to grow into a carpet! I run two spiral CFL bulbs(6500K) in my 10 gallon.. does the trick to make everything nice..Green.. and healthy!

As people above have mentioned, if you can't boil it in a pot, you need to find some other way to sanitize it! i just used my tub to sanitize it with really hot water from the shower.. and then waterlogged it in a tub full of water.

IMO outdoor paint is the best to use.. any brand will do. I used valspar outdoor furniture paint! I spray painted my sister's stand to her 44corner... and it's done wonders.. since it does protect the stand from water damage! :D
