    Armatus Identification thread

Agreed, looks like a Tatauia based on head shape, no spot under the pectoral fin (Scomberoides) and doesn't appear to have the vibrant orange found on the Armatus @ the dorsal fin.

new Tat looking for a little more info

I'd keep feeding live on a timed schedule until he gets comfortable. When I had mine, I turned on the light during feeding time.. a couple weeks later, I'd turn it on as usual, throw in pellets and he got the idea it was food. Getting payara off live takes a lot of patience & time. Also, be...

    Snakehead & Current

I've taken a long break from fish keeping but in the mean time, I've spent some time on the waters, doing some fishing. With the northern snakehead here on the east coast of the US, it's quite the adrenaline rush with a snakehead on the other end of your line. Though I've come a long way from...

Sorry man. Obviously something is wrong with the bacteria cycle. Have you tried picking up some bottles from the store that may help this process ie Seachem's Stability? Need a little help with choosing the correct fishing rods.

I was in a similar situation not too long ago. I picked up a Shimano SE Teramar (inshore spinning - but they also have a casting version). Primarily, I fish for snakeheads so I needed a rod that would be able to handle the fights but was also light because my previous ugly sticks were heavy and...

    Armatus Identification thread

It definitely isn't an armatus. the armatus has a more sleaker headshape unfortunately. reasons I said Tatauaia: -head shape -size of the caudal fin -orange on the adipose fin but not the vibrant orange that is found on the armatus -eye size

    Armatus Identification thread

little rusty on my payara but I'd say neither. I'd say H. Tatauaia
