i bought some "damprid" at home depot to put in my fully enclosed stand that houses my sump. because it is fully enclosed(and i spilled 20g of water in it one day) it is always getting moldy. is it safe to use this? it also has a "fresh scent" which i might be a little worried about being exposed to the sump water, but there is also scent free which i didnt see.

damprid contains calcium chloride.

Problem is this stuff is sucking the moisture from the sump and not the wood. If the sump were sealed (not a fun task) then yes, it would help (and go with the unscented).

You need to clean the stand out with something like MoldZyme, and paint with something like kilz, at least as much as you can to limit the area mold can grow on. Ventilate while doing this.

Mold holds moisture, causing rot, causing more mold...this is worse than the nitrogen cycle:D.

Besides, you really don't want this breeding in your house.
