Nah, the most common ray wing deception is to sell them as bay scallops. Texture is similar and it's easy to cut pieces in the shape of scallops.

I'm thinking the only time I've had ray meat is in stuff like fake crab and scallops.

Not sure how it would taste actually prepared as what it is in a proper recipe.
Anyone know?

with cali fornia thron backs you could cut off the tail and skin it and then roll it batter then fry it like a chicken tender, dont know about the wings.
