I never had a saltwater tank before and I love the way this fish looks. Kinda looks like a datnoid to me. I'm thinking of doing a community of 5 in a 125g, barebottom. I'm used to large predatory fishes and doing 100%+ waterchanges twice a week. Any ideas on how I should run the filtration? I was thinking of using a fluval fx5(all mechanical) and a wetdry(bio). Does anyone have experience in raising multiple red emperor snappers? Can these be mixed with bluestripped snappers(Lutjanus kasmira)?

You do know how big they get. A 125 gal isn't big enough for 1, let alone 5.

You could start them in the 125, but should get one of your 600 gal ponds going soon. You will want to buy some sand (aragonite based), live rock, and a good protein skimmer. Set everything up and let it cycle for a few weeks before adding the fish. If you use a wet/dry, you probably won't need the FX5.
