I have 2 power filters on my 55 gallon tank a Whisper 60 and aquaclear 50, the whisper is quite noisy where as i can not even hear the aquaclear, I was looking to replace the whisper with another aquaclear. Is this a good Idea??

definatley or even better a marineland biowheel they will do a lot of BIO filtration for you.

you can get a penguin 350 from Petsmart for $27. i was going to try an aquaclear, but the penguin was a lot cheaper and I've had good luck with them in the past. i would get a spare impeller for it, though as that's been my only problem with them.
OK ill check out the emperors and penguins are they loud filters? I do not mind the water sound but I cant stand the machine sound of the whisper, excpecially since it is in my room
hehe I also started with a whisper 60 on my 55g. I then added a Marineland Emperor 400 ran great. I added an AquaClear 110 recently and put my Whisper 60 on my 29g with an Emperor 280. Did some maintenance on my whisper 60 and it's loud as well but it usually fades in a week or so. I may upgrade the whisper 60 but i'm gonna just let it chill for now.

can't go wrong with either Marineland Emperor or AquaClear. I'd get the biggest i could afford of those 2. I will admit to the AC 110 being much, much quieter than the Emperor.

I have had my whisper for over a year now and has always been really loud, but anyways I think I am going to go with either a aquaclear, penguin, or emperor, depends on the pricing. I am leaning over to another aquaclear tho, less things to buy and if you do buy you can go in bulk and use it on both.
I tried a Whisper 60 and had the same problem. Brought it back to the store a day later and got a AC50, much better.
