I have a Single Satellite Compact Fluorescent Fixture on my 55gal tank and i just remembered that the blubs put out 65w each and im starting to understand the whole reef lighting thing and ive read that 65w would be ok for some hardy soft corals in a 20gal tall and so im asking if the fixture i have on my 55gal would be ok for some softies. the blubs im using right now are 10000K daylight/ 460 nm actinic combos. would that be fine or should i order a new type of blub/ blub combo if that wattage would work. im hoping its ok because then i could make my 55 a reef tank and work with that instead of ordering all new equipment for the 20

It could work but a 55 is a tall tank and you might have to place the corals towards the top. You also would have slow growth. More light is always better. How old are you current bulbs. The bulbs should be replaced every 8-12 months.
