Hey I'm 14 and I've been doing fish for like 2 years, i have an african cichlid tank with a baby albino channel cat and i want to be able to give him some room to roam, when he gets bigger (at least during the summer. So, I think im gonna make an outdoor pond of about 150-300 gallons. I've dug out a pond by hand before, but it ended up being jus a mosquito hole becuase it was too far from electricity to filter:nilly:, and thus no fish. :irked:

I'm kinda on a like $300 dollar budget, so after the pond itself, if i go preform, will probably be near $130 for 150 gallons, or if i make my own, with everything, i'll prolly have about $200 left for a 300 gallon or so Pond. I'm looking to get it ready for as cheap and easy as possible, with as little mess as possible, so im thinking the preformed pond.

What can i do for a filter with about $100 dollars left over, that will work for a few fish?, with little experience in sump-making?

And any way, would this be big enough for my channel cat?
how old do they live to?

Just a few months ago i posted a question much like the one you just posted.
WOLF helped me, gave me a design that works and is dirt cheap.

Yep, just remember the gph drop off fast, @ 5ft I'd say you'll get 800-1000gph flow.

I've bought a bunch of pumps, tools, power tools, pneumatic tools and other assorted stuff and not had a single failure (and some things are yearssss old).

And of these near you?

If your close to a border state check them out too.
