Ok well I am thinking of getting another filter for the 220 I am getting, I will not have enough for another FX5 as I also need some new decor for it as well.

I was think the Rena XP4 but I have read some mixed reviews on it, but it is only $200 atm and in a few months I might be able to get a second FX5 to replace the XP4.

So that would be:

1 FX5
2 AC 110's
1 XP4
2 Power Heads (not sure what kind yet)

how is that for the 220?

Doesn't John PTC sell the fluval FX5s for 200 bucks. I would recommend a eheim 2217 you can get them for 120 bucks and would make a great secondary filter for your 220.

I like the XP3s( have 5 of them) but I have heard some bad reveiws on the XP4, no experience with them myself though.

2217 is only for up to 158gal tank though, I used to have one on my 150 but ending getting rid of it... lack of baskets makes me hate cleaning it...

I have two XP3's plus a modified pool filter and a wet/dry system for my 450 gallon tank. My XP3's do a fine job, easy to clean, and the media is inexpensive. The bottom compartment and my pool filter I use pillow fiber fill from walmart that is very cheap (about a $1.50 for a pillow size bag and will last several changes). If or when one of the filters die I plan to get the XP4. I have also drueled over the Fluval also, but haven't looked into what media it uses or how much media is. The biggest appeal for me concerning the Fluval is the bigger water pump than the XP4.
