the sg level in my 20 gallon tank right now is 1.019 how can i get it up to 1.023 without adding more water...i have a powerhead in the tank..i plan on begining the cycling process tonight so i want the sg level to be right

Without swapping water, with SG raised water, you cannot raise the salinity in any other way. Its only possible by adding more salt content to the tank.

However, in your situtation, as you have no live stock in the tank, you can add some salt, in small ammounts to raise the SG up to the required levels of 1.023 - 1.025..

**NOTE** This is the ONLY time you can add salt directly to the tank ( no livestock )....

why not just siphon some tank water out into a bucket, add salt and circulate in there, then add to the main tank?
i'd feel better doing this than dropping salt into the main tank.
