i just dont get it
start from the beginning
55g with the dual hob that came with it
been running well over a year
raised my aro in it for a while
then i got 2 pacus
right now they are about 4 months old
i then added a diy 10g w/d sump filter
flowing over 200gph
also i have a bubble strip
i do w/c every week or 2
i did the normal w/c like 4 days ago
all of a sudden my pacus get cloudy eye
i test the water, amm is off the chart
last night i did a w/c
waited a few hours
tested it
still off the chart
so i did another w/c "wasnt sure if its safe but had to do something"
amm dropped a bit
let it run a full day
test again,still the highest color

so my question is why doesnt this setup work?
dual hob thats been running over a year
a 10g sump w/d running for a month and flowing over 200gph
air from a pump and 3 returns

i have some good filtration "i thought"
and yet others have better luck with less filtration, less w/c,less space?
"and yes the pacus are moving soon"

you must have bad luck i guess same as me i have a heavily filtered 55 for example which i do water changes every other week on and my friend has a 55 with a tetra whisper 40-60 filter and he does one water change every 6 MONTHS!! and his fish grow faster and look nicer i seriously will give him one of my fish for a month and theyll come back 2 inches bigger its wicked annoying:irked:

Make sure no one "helped out" and cleaned your glass with a glass cleaner with ammonia in it. Or, maybe the 10 gallon was contaminated with something.

Thanks,
Ed

and 10g was a running aquarium before it became a filter

How and how often do you clean the filters?
