Middle of somewhere, Oulu Wisconsin
4000HH*
13 ft max head3/4" MPT980gph120w

Quiet One sold by Fosters and Smith. The "HH" designation is High Head. Meaning it is designed to handle the backpressure in long -or- high returns.

It is on my Ray tank (see my threads "DIY any species set-up). It works abso-friggin-lutely perfect. It is even quiter when you seat it upon some open or closed cell foam. Sump is 150gal. Tank is 350gal.
Respectfully,
FireMedic.

I've tried little giant, rio, quiet one, mag drive, and reeflo.

From those pumps and from others that i've worked with, pay the tiny extra money for a reeeflo pump. They're solid and quiet. I've never found a submersible pump that I like (Quiet 1 4000 and 9000s have both failed in less than 4 months for me). The little giant is bulletproof, but a bit loud.

For a quiet, efficient, powerful pump, I would go with a reeflo sequence. I have it filtering my 300 and 125, but if you choke down the output it'll use less power.

I have an Iwaki MD70RLT and an MD40RLT that have been in continuous operation for 9 years without a problem.

I forgot to mention that for 8 years they pumped saltwater, they are VERY corrosion resistant. The nylon head outperforms SS or titanium in saltwater. Not incredibly quiet...

How do you like the dart?
So far mine is the best pump I've ever used.
