Matrix appears to be pumice. It used to be irregularly shaped with a fairly uniform size distribution. Now, it is rounded (more or less) with a nonuniform size distribution. Either way, given the respectable porosity of pumice, I would expect it to be adequate.

I have heard a few bad things about it but no personal experience...

I heard that it has small surface area for the BB compared to Bio Max (i believe is cheaper) and Eheim pro, and it clogs really easy but again i dont know first hand.

what are the negs you have heard Spizz?

WTF?.....Someone I hold a high opinion of said it was not "good"...I have always thought it was one of the elite bio medias...I would rather go with what is best...How the hell am I even close to trolling? Adding to this forum more than most mods is trolling? Wow.....Why the need for a reference...Is it good or not?.....
